Project Director, Chong Sheau Ching, met with senior cadres of Vietnam Women’s Academy about partnership on November 22, 2016 and gave a talk on ‘Work-Life Balance and Young Girls’ to the students.

The ‘One Million Voices for Work-Life Balance’ Campagne has resulted in more public awareness of telecommuting in Malaysia.
The 2016 Hays Asia Salary Guide revealed that about 42 per cent of survey respondents were willing to give up 10 % of salary in order to work from home, while another 23% would sacrifice up to 20 per cent of salary for the same privilege. The issue of work-life balance also fared positively with 34% affirmed that it would be a key factor to stay with an employer.

CSO-Local Government Coalition letters and social media promotion by the Filipino team under ‘One Million Voices for Work-Life Balance Campagne’ influenced newly elected President Duarte of the Philippines in nation-building.

In his State of Nation speech in July 2016, he emphasized several recommendations by the CSO-Local Government Coalition such as ‘putting into full force the ‘Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Law’; provision of entrepreneurship development in extremely rural neighborhoods, and seriously addressing the worsening traffic situations.
Meeting with Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs’ Association (July 2016)

Mya Hlwar (most right) of Asian University for Women, also an intern for ASEAN Work-Life Balance Project, met with the top management of Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs’ Association in July, 2016 to discuss holding an event where mothers will donate school equipments to Grade 1-4 underprivileged students, and also collaboration with the WLB Project.
16th Melaka International Youth Dialogue “Youth for Environmental Sustainability: Our Future, Our Care”
“We, the 160 young people from 56 countries around the world, attended the 16th Melaka International Youth Dialogue (MIYD), convened in Melaka from 26th – 30th June, 2016 for an annual program organised by the World Assembly of Youth (WAY).”

Forums at Vietnam Women’s Academy (24 – 25 May 2016)
Dr. Lee Lee Loh, Chief of Knowledge Development of the Work-Life Balance project, had 2 forums at Vietnam Women’s Academy in May to share and discuss the concept of work-life balance and its application, with representatives students, lectures and researchers at Vietnam Women’s Academy.

Dr. Lee Lee Loh encouraged students at Vietnam Women’s Academy to ask and explore the concept of Work-Life Balance and its application in the first forum “Work-Life Balance” on May 24, 2016.

90 students (representatives of 4 specializations: Social Work, Business Administration, Gender and Development, and Law Studies) had attended the first forum “Work Life Balance” on May 24, 2016. These student representatives attentively listened to Dr. Lee Lee Loh’s sharing about the concept of Work-Life Balance and its application in the first forum “Work-Life Balance” on May 24, 2016.
The second forum “How to Balance Work and Life?” had the presence and participation of 30 lecturers and researchers from Vietnam Women’s Academy on May 25, 2016.

“A lot of times, they cannot spend time with their families. Sibu is a very strategic place and the size is suitable for the initiative to be promoted or tried out,” he said after the signing ceremony of ‘Letter for Change’ under Asean WLB Project yesterday.
